4 | Wellcome Career Development Awards (all disciplines – UK, Ireland & developing countries) | The Wellcome Career Development Awards from the Wellcome Trust enable researchers working on human life, health and wellbeing from the perspective of any discipline, to lead their own research program. There are no citizenship restrictions but researchers must have sponsorship from eligible research institutions in the UK, Ireland or low-or-middle income countries (except for China and India). 7 | ACIAR John Allwright Fellowship | The Australian Center for International Agricultural Research awards the John Allwright Fellowship for university postgraduate studies in Australia. The aim of the Fellowship is to strengthen scientific research capability and institutional links in ACIAR partner countries to undertake high-quality and impactful research. In the 2026 intake round, research dedicated to addressing climate change, climate adaptation or strengthening resilience to climate change impacts is encouraged. 9 | Funding Programme Forced Migration | The Funding Programme Forced Migration from the Gerda Henkel Foundation provides research funding for humanities researchers worldwide studying forced migration. The proposed research project should cover one of the following areas: Forced-migration infrastructures, South-South (im)mobilities, Multiple displacements, Displaced people’s agency, (Supra-)state influences on displacement processes. The Programme is open to researchers who are PhD holders in the humanities, social sciences, cultural studies, law, or economics. There are no restrictions on citizenship or research location. Depending on the research approach taken and possibilities at hand, cooperation with local knowledge-producers, including people with lived experience of displacement in countries of origin or asylum, researchers and civil society actors (particularly in the “Global South”), is strongly encouraged.The applicant must carry out the research and publish the conducted research in their own name. The funding covers staff, travel and other costs for up to 24 months. Additional funding is provided for successful applicants with children.
