Pure Ocean seeks projects that develop marine conservation initiatives managed by local communities and Indigenous peoples or explore nature-based solutions for the preservation of blue carbon ecosystems. | 5 | The Charles Bullard Fellowship in Forest Research | The Charles Bullard Fellowship in Forest Research supports advanced research and study by individuals. The fellowships are generally awarded to individuals in mid-career from all around the world who have established themselves in academia, public service, or the private sector. Research areas include, for example, forest ecology, tree physiology, forest soils, forest resource management, conservation and biodiversity issues, forest land planning, and the arts. | 6 | TWAS Fellowships for Research and Advanced Training | The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) offers fellowships to young scientists in developing countries to enable them to spend three to 12 months at a research institution in a developing country other than their own. Each program will support a cohort of 2-5 fellows who will receive a stipend to conduct independent research that utilizes Smithsonian resources (e.g., data, facilities, expertise).
