Summary | Kien Giang is a province with high biodiversity and many potential areas that meet the criteria to become Other Effective Conservation Measures (OECMs). In addition to terrestrial ecosystems, Kien Giang’s marine ecosystems, especially in coastal island areas, have potential. However, most of these areas are not yet managed and protected formally. Therefore, there is a need to compile and study potential OECM areas in the coastal and island regions of Kien Giang and digitize potential OECM options on GIS maps. The Mekong Delta Coastal Habitat Conservation (MDC) project seeks a team of experts to compile and assess various aspects of biodiversity, fishery resources, economic-social conditions, and environmental factors in Kien Giang’s marine areas to identify potential areas suitable for listing as OECMs. |
