According to Decision No. 5993/QD-BGD&ĐT/DH dated December 29, 1999, Hue University was assigned the task of training Bachelor of Environmental Science (KHMT) by the Ministry of Education and Training. On April 28, 2000, the President of Hue University signed the Decision No. 146/QD-ĐHH-TCNS on the establishment of the Department of Environmental Science under the University of Science and assigned the task of organizing the Bachelor of Environmental Science training. Right in the school year 2000-2001, the Department of Environmental Science was officially put into operation, with an enrollment scale of 1 regular class (K.24) and 1 class of learning by doing (K.9). After 5 years of establishment, the Department of Environmental Science was upgraded to the Faculty of Environment according to Decision No. 202/QD-ĐHH-TCNS dated March 28, 2005 of the President of Hue University. Since the 2006-2007 school year, the Faculty of Environment has officially been assigned the task of postgraduate training and enrollment of the first Master’s course.
The mission of the Faculty of Environment is to train Doctorate (Environmental Science), Master (Master of Science) and 2 undergraduate majors including Environmental Science (Bachelor of Science) and Bachelor of Science (Bachelor of Science). Environmental Engineering (Engineer’s Degree); conduct basic and applied scientific research in the fields of natural resource protection, biodiversity conservation, environmental management and environmental pollution control.

The training objective is to equip students with basic and basic knowledge about environmental science, especially specialized knowledge on environmental management, environmental engineering and environmental ecology, enough for learners after graduation. The university can do well in research, management, operation, etc. in the fields of environmental protection, environmental pollution control, environmental impact assessment, etc.

The Environmental Laboratory is a common service for students’ practical activities, scientific research activities of staff and students in the faculty.

Currently, the Faculty of Environment has 16 employees and labor contracts. In which, the teaching staff has 14 people, including 3 associate professors, 5 doctors, 6 masters (of which 2 are doing research).

Every year, the Faculty also invites a number of visiting lecturers who are professors, associate professors, and PhDs from other faculties in the University of Science and member schools in Hue University; universities and research institutes in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh teaches a number of subjects in graduate and undergraduate programs. Up to now, there have been visiting lecturers from the University of Natural Sciences-Hanoi National University, Hanoi University of Civil Engineering, the Institute of Environment and Natural Resources of Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, etc.

Along with the personal efforts, leadership and support from Hue University, the University of Science, the cooperation of units and individuals inside and outside the university have contributed to creating a real growth. of the Department of Environment.
